Yes, that is correct. I know for sure that swapping an older valve in works because I did just that for my friend. He has a 2001 cocker that he wanted to turn into a Sniper II and run a vertical 3.5oz tank. It wasn't working at all that way though with the stock valve. Another guy at the field had an older 97 cocker that he wanted to run lower pressure (because that was the agg thing to do I guess). So I took both cockers and swapped the valves around. Now the 2001 is set up as a Sniper II and running quite happily off a 3.5oz in the ASA.
