Building an Autococker

I am looking for an automag and was wondering if it would be wise for a first time owner to buy one in peice by peice and build it up. Is this often done with enthusiests, or is it smarter to buy a complete setup? My biggest concerns are tracking down every part, and compatability. I appreciate your advice to a automag newcomer.

WGP Autococker or AGD Automag?
'Cockers. yes, build your own if you know how. If you don't know how when you start, you certainly will before you're done.
'Mags on the other hand, have just so much that can be done to them and it's usually better to buy one complete rather than figure out what components you want.

especially considering there's no such thing as an aftermarket 'mag valve or, right now, regulator. You'd probably have to buy an entire 'mag to get those, either way. Best bet for a 'mag is just to buy a complete one and decide what needs replaced first.

Easy way to building a cocker is to buy a used "pro" cocker, lets say a freeflow for example (cheap cheap on peanutbutternation). Use it for a day, see what you like and what you dont like about it, change the parts you dislike, go on doing so until you get the cocker of your dreams or go bankrupt.
Chanses are you'll love the FF as it is, just make sure you get a barrelkit for it and use quality paint. Even the best marker cant make poor paint shoot straight and accurate

Poster~!!!!

Automags by airgun designs

and

Autocockers by worr games products

are very different guns.

We dont know what you want.

With an automag id say piece it together yourself from used if you want an expensive one with an X valve..or find one that is allready put together the way you like. There isnt much to assembling an automag.

With an autococker id say buy one complete with good parts. Good parts are harder to come by now and expensive, buy one with the good stuff (whatever stuff you want) and dont waste money.

FWIW, if you're indeed looking for an Automag, I think SHAG's still got his listed in the Classifieds here. It's an RT in very clean-looking shape for a very decent price. Were I not poor, I'd probably buy it myself...
