Grey Ghost

I just received a new grey ghost in the mail. I put in a 12 gram and proceeded to shoot the gun. It was shooting consistently at 158 fps. I attempted to turn the velocity up using the included tool that fits into the bolt. I cranked it in a few turns, only to find that the marker was no longer receiving air. So I brought it back to the point where the marker was getting air to fire, and found that it was still shooting 158 or so fps. Help?

Update: I put a co2 tank on it and was able to increase it a few more turns and shoot around 220fps.

Is it a new ghost (Grey Ghost 2006) Or is it "new" to you but one of the originals?

If it's new to you, do as said and get a spring kit for it.

If it's a new 2006 ghost call up LAPCO and get some help. There's no reason a Brand new Ghost shouldn't shoot properly out of the box.

Pull the internals and make sure everything is seated right(springs).

Also, you may want to tear everything down and give it a good clean and oiling before anyhting else.

It seems LAPCO got real shotty when assembling the new ghosts. I pulled the TPC out of my bolt and it was covered in grease which had what looked to be grindings in it. I also noticed a big burr in the ASA which had I not removed it would have worked its way through the air system and eventually found its way into the cup seal.

Also it seems like they never polished the bore of the breach before anno as you can visually see the chatter marks created by there speedy machining.

So take it all the way down and thoroughly clean everything!!!

It is one of the 2006 ghosts. I will take it apart and clean it as kidney has suggested and report back.

I wiped everything down and put a light coat of oil on the internals. Put everything back together and got it to shoot above 300 fps. Thanks for the help kidney and medic.
