Spyder/Pirahna detent spacing.

Alright, putting detents in the project rifle. Hiding them in a sight rail so any spin they put on the ball will cause a flatline effect, so I can have dual (one for an anti-double feed, one to prevent rollouts). Because of the space constraints, 'cocker detents are out (too big) and spring plungers from McMaster-Carr are too long.

So, rubber-nubbin Spyder detents. But I'm pretty sure it's not the .25"-from-center as aligned to the feed. Please correct me if I'm wrong, or someone with a Spyder (or Pirahna, probably) please whip out some calipers and give me the proper dimension?

No calipers atm but I do have piranhas.

Just wanted you to know that intimidators also used the same rubber nubbin detents. It is a pretty good system. Hope you get the info you need quickly.

The .25 figure for the anit-double detent sounds good. Without actually lifting the detent cover off and using a ruler it looks about right and may actually be a hair shorter than your .25. Like in the .22 to .23 range.

But if you're using tophats to hold the balls in the barrel then you'll need to make the marker with one barrel and keep it specific to this one project so you can screw it home and then machine for the detent with the barrel in place. Unless this is a brass body setup like a KP....

What about the little side flexing spring detents like I found on my new Piranha SB? You'd have to extend the trigger frame a little but that seems like a nice method where it's hidden under the trigger frame.

It's my brass rifle. No grip frame to move around, and the barrel is stationary, so no worries about it lining up later on.

I was thinking about wire detents, but I wanted the rail on top anyway, and wire would be hard to do with that. Otherwise, I can make the detent cover a rail, and completely hide the nubbins. But I haven't had at it yet, the wire may still be a consideration.

Could you put the wires up from below so they are hidden by the frame that holds all the trigger stuff and the stock?
