Back in the day, face masks were not required. Then they were. Some pros didn't like that because it muffled their voices (allegedly). So they flipped up their flexes. Then legions of agglets saw their videos and started doing it too. The end.

I remember a kid asking a dude (haha) why he flipped his mask up and he told him some player (can't remember his name) use to do it "back in the day"

since I've never used flex's (will be soon) I can only speculate what the advantages are but i'm guessing less fogging, less backblast, and a better cheekweld for us folks who like the back bottle.

Pretty much that. Ive taken hits with the mask flipped up and down respectively and found that the ones that do hit the mask when flipped up hurt less, and anything below the bottom edge hits my chin and isnt that bad where as folded down the flex bottom will slap me in the lip.

Also it's nice for people who drink the night before the game when they dont have to lift up their mask to yack all over the ground after running around for a few hours in the hot hot sun.

I do it when I ref. Makes it easier to project my voice, and lets the breeze in. Ill never do it when I play.

I'd be less likely to do it when i ref, i get shot too much accidentally when i ref even though i avoid it. I swear i've been hit more as a ref....

I swear, the proflex covers as much as an i4 when its folded. It isn't that bad...and it gives better lip protection.

My flex goes way past my chin despite my monster head, so rolling it up doesn't make it any less protective. It makes the rubber thicker, I get slapped in the cheek every time I take a shot to the rubber.
