Ammo Box used as a hopper 'clip'

I started with some back story as to why I was asking this, and then I realized it doesn't matter.

Not even that last one did

What I'm wondering is if anyone has ever tried using pocket hoppers, ammo boxes, whatever you wanna call those 45 to 50 round hoppers that were started by WGP, as a type of 'clip'. What I mean is, you get to the field, fill up a bunch of those, strap one to the feed neck of your marker with maybe 3 more in your pocket or a pouch and throughout the day just rely on slamming those suckers on your marker instead of filling those cumbersome hoppers with an equally aggravating pod.

If so, how did you set up the ammo box to have an automated system? I was thinking adding some sort of seal that could be broken easily might work, or even having a pin in the neck of each ammo box that you could just pull out would be enough to stop paint from rolling out, but not being entirely sure, I came here. Cause I'm lazy. And still at work.

Go. Discuss.
Or don't

I remember seeing a harness made for this exact purpose in a old magazine. A local kid carries 200 round hoppers in the butt pack of his webbing with the open end electrical taped instead of pods

Ive had an idea of using a system that held them to a webbing and keep it from spilling all in one easy to pull system thats basically a elastic system that holds onto the feed neck and tat little notch. Wouldnt require pins or anything.

I do that. The old M16 Alice pouches hold one perfectly although you will need to stuff the bottom a bit.

I use a rubber band as a shim on my hopper neck to hold it into my atomic elbow and it works amazing. Just fold a piece of the rubberband over the neck so nothing rolls out. E-tape should work just fine.

Now that I think about it, you could drill or melt a small hole into the feed neck and add a Bobby pin or paperclip to it. Pull it out sort of like a grenade and then slam it on.

piece of foam(I used an old foam mattress pad as the donor) stuffed in feed end - string around the middle of the foam attached to the ammo box so you don't lose it
2pouches of your choosing
1 to pull from 1 to dump into
drop leg - belt - or harness to attach pouches whatever you like or find the easiest to use

EL17E 76, I watched your avatar for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long last night when I got home.

I had a thought on this topic: I was thinking of adding a small 90º hook of some sort to the bottom of the feed neck. Basically it would either be spring loaded or stay in place from friction but the basic mechanic is to have one of the 'arms' from this hook hold the paint inside the neck, and a smaller one on the outside that would catch on the elbow as you put the hopper on the marker. I realize this is hard to picture, so I'll get on some diagrams while I'm at work over the day. Put it like this: while the hopper isn't on the elbow, and its in your pocket, the 'arms' are at a 45º angle from the sides of the feed neck. When you put the hopper into the elbow, the smaller arm on the outside catches the elbow and moves the whole 'hook' system 45º making it so that the inner arm, the one holding the paint from rolling out, is now parallel to the feed neck of the hopper (allowing the paint to roll out freely) and the smaller arm, the one that catches on the elbow, is now at a 90º angle from the feed neck.

UPDATE: now with crappy pics I made in under 3 minutes

You guys have a million dollar invention here... SERIOUSLY. Get some old equipment and make up a sort of "rough draft" that actually works (you need a working model for a patent), then submit it to the US Patent Office. If you get a patent you can market it to paintball manufacturers and get paid any time someone uses your design... Just saying

There was a hopper system a few years ago like that. The agitator was in the base and you carried multiple hoppers that stuck onto the top of the agitator. No idea what it was called or why it didn't take off. But I know I saw it.

what about using a phantom feedgate? when you pushed it into a feedneck, the neck would go into the hopper and allow balls to flow freely.
it'd only really work with a marker that had a straight feedneck that'd fit inside the feedgate.
