can/should one shim an lpr?

put the pneumatics back on my works for an upcoming game and realized I have to crank the lpr all the way up to get the 3-way to seal. I know its partly to do with the altitude im at but the issue is that i will be playing somewhere thats about 1000 ft higher in elevation and am worried that it wont seal up there. if I was to take a small washer and shim my lpr I was wondering if that would work or would I risk damaging my pneumatics?
