I would strip all paint from the marker using their product called Trustrip. Duracoat is very good for markers. Here is one of mine- A5 camo pic. I would also use a coat of clear. The duracoat is easy to mix and use. You can get a kit from Houts Ent. They have the paint kits and the stencils. The kit will do 2-3 markers. You could certainly spray a coat of clear on to help protect a paint job. Hope this helps.

I was wondering if you could airbrush a marker then duracoat it in clear.

I want my sniper project done all in satin black duracoat with a coat of clear duracoat.

As to airbrushing.. you probably would only be able to use duracoat as you base coat.

With clear coat, if the clear coat itself is not satin, then you will not end up with a satin finish. doesn't matter if the base coat is gloss or satin.. the clear coat will define the ultimate finish.

I'm tallking about two different things here, One I want my sniper project done all in satin black and satin clear duracoat. and Two if you were to airbrush a marker then ably a clear duracoat. Sorry I don't think I made that clear.lol

No.. you hadn't made it clear.

First.. the satin black rifle. Duracoat it black and see if they make a satin clear coat finish as per what I said in my previous post.

As to airbrushing... you must want to have some kind of design... either use duracoat specific paint if the sell it by the jar... or check to see the chemical compatability between the paint you want to use and the duracoat clear coat.

Also a note on airbrushing.. there isn't much out there that will stick very well to aluminum... unless you put some kind of high quality acid etching automotive base coat down first. otherwise your paint will lift off the gun no matter if you have duracoat on it or not. And acrylic and/or enamel paint (like Testors for example) won't last long at all.. believe me I've tried.

My KP2 freshly assembled.

I used bell armor (they are local to me) bellarmor.com for their site.

yea sorry about not making things clear. so airbrushing out of the question then, unless I use duracoat. well that sucks. Schmitti thanks for the info. I looked into it at lauerweaponry.com. They have a satin clearcoat.
