So yea I found an original patent drawing. It does not show the weldments, the longer bolt and has the elongated sight rail.

Well, it's definitely not a 707, and that was the only model before the 007.

I'm guessing an early production run of the 007, manufactured sometime before 1976 since, I've not seen any information to indicate that the first guns used in paintball were anything other than the 007 we know today.

The bolt may be an aftermarket or from another Nelson Clone (I've seen it before, can't remember where).

Nelspots changed a lot once they started being used in paintball.

My guess is that you have no matter the name you call it. A pre-paintball Nelson. The only difference I see between yours and others we have seen is the rear sight which is shown in the patent picture posted above and the welds which did change several times over the life of the gun.

A good read on the Nelson pistol Do you have an original Nelson Nelspot?

Now, I have a question.

On the rear sight assembly (BTW, it's not a rail, a rail is an attachment point :P ), is attached to the body anywhere alongside or rear of the lengthwise slot in it?

I ask because it might've been 'adjustable' for range. What I'm getting at is that the slot may be a guide for a shim that would slide underneath the rear part of the assembly. It would operate kind of like the ramp in an apex barrel. When you slide the shim forward, it would raise the rear aperture, lowering the point of aim / raising the point of impact. The difference in distance wouldn't be huge but, it might help things along.

It is an "adjustable" sight assembly. Theres 2 tacks that connect it to the front. IIRC when I got it there was some cardboard under it to raise it up.
