Looking to spalt some Rock Maple I have sitting at home.
Would be turning it into nice figured grips once it is ready.

I never knew you could dyi spalting until now:

Looks like a royal pia. Realize too that after you spalt it you will have to stabilize the wood so it doesn't continue to rot or fall apart.

Looked at that site as well as many others.
Was wondering if anyone here has had any luck with it.

As for the stabilizing part, no big deal there.

Tossed 2 chunks of dampened Hard (rock) maple into a container with peat moss and fungi from a tree at my cottage. Container is stored in a dark warm place.
Will check on them in a month.

If it works out there is enough wood for 4-5 sets of grips.
