06 EGO - Cannot go higher than 250fps

Ok so... I have an 06 ego, the solenoid back (where the wires come out) is slightly damaged, but it still works the way it should and the gun cycles just fine so I really do not think that is the problem.

I know the QEV's are another common problem, but again, the marker cycles just fine, it just wont go over 260fps.

I have replaced ALL of the O-rings, on every part that I could rip apart, I completely ripped apart the marker and put it all back together, still no juice.

Reg is in the sweet-spot.

LPR screw is flush.

The QEV's will prevent your marker from chronoing properly if I understand properly.

QEV's are a common choke point, one of the reasons marker manufacturers did away with them. Take 'em off, clean 'em, reinstall, if problem persists get new QEV's.

I had this exact same issue, had to replace the HPR Piston. Can still buy new ones for 20 dollars.

Thank you guys! I changed out one of the QEV's last night so we will see if the thing is working properly.

Ill try out a few different HPRs today and see if that could be the issue if the QEV's arent.

I also read (somewhere) that I could get rid of the QEVs all together... anybody know what the process is?

its more than likely just putting the right threaded barb in place of the QEV.

Remember having the hpr too high can also reduce velocity.

Its either 3 things hpr, qev or you may have a titanium ram in without the spring.

Most of the time when people have brought me an '05/'06 ego with the problem it has been one of the following:

1) QEV diaphragm on one of the QEV's is damaged, replace diaphragms instead of the whole QEV, its cheaper.
2) QEV has a very small crack in the threading (seen it several times, kinda hard to spot, use a glass eye to check) this will cause a loss of pressure and velocity, need to replace the entire QEV
3) the flat seal on the bottom of the HPR piston is severely damaged or missing, fairly common problem that causes the marker to over-pressurize, usually have to buy a new piston unless you have the right material to make a new seal and epoxy it back in place.
4) same thing as #3 but with the LPR piston, less common though. same fix.
5) seals on the ram are bad and need to be replaced. easiest to check, and cheapest to replace.
6) Dwell on the board is too low...i always check it and set it to factory just to make sure...

hope this helps, from what it sounds like chances are its a QEV diaphragm...
