I have done it with sand, glass beads and black beauty's depending on what your trying to do you may need different media. Using the wrong one could mean it takes twice the time all the way to it could distort the metal. If your just using a gun it makes a huge mess and of course your losing the media on the ground. With a booth you save the media, not much mess with a shop vac vent system, but you have a size limit. Goggles and other PPE are needed either way. Look up the different media types and compare to what you want to blast. |

im actually looking to blast titanium and don't really want to mess it up. i was looking at buying the gun only because it wont be a regular thing for me to blast parts. i may take it to a friend that has an autobody shop. but i wanted to have to have the media right first try

What exactly are you trying to do to the titanium? Remove coating or stipple finish?

That's a tough one - you answered what we needed tho... stipple finish will be best accomplished with glass bead, but on Ti it's not going to last long. Slag (black beauty) will be too aggressive. Glass bead is usually a safe choice - when new it's effective and mild, when used and broken it gets a little more aggressive but still not too bad... that is usually the stipple finish one would see on metal.
