A strap wrench should not scratch anything, as it is a length of rubber that connects to a handle. Pretty much, only the rubber contacts the tank.

The only strap wrenches I have seen here in Brazil are made of a thin aluminum foil. That's why I said that.

LOL You are right indeed. That what I bought mine for.

As I'm flying to the US in a couple weeks, I'm gonna try finding one of those at a Home Depot so I can have one here as well. Never know when one might need one, right?
