which barrel kit?
Looking at either a Deadly Wind 14" bore master kit ($160)
J&J ceramic Edge barrel kit Elite kit ($100).
I'm looking for the quietest barrel to run on my Empire Sniper with a Tech-T bolt. Deadly wind has way more options when it comes to bore sizing, but the j&j is 60 bucks cheaper and I've loved their one piece barrels for years.
Sooo which one u guys prefer.
DW is the way to go & the 14" is perfect. Last paint I shot was 677 (currently my smallest insert). My 4 outings this year, the paint was 677 2x's and very large 689+ the other 2 times.
IMHO, the J&J bores are not the sizes you are most likely to need (.682, 685, .688, .691, .693).
I would also recommend a CCM barrel kit.
GoG has 675 & 677 (alum inserts are approx $10 each).
The DW barrel is really nice, points well, very light and still tough.
Probably a worthless response since I have no experience with J&J, but I do have a 14" DW Fibur, with the freak inserts. It's as accurate as any barrel I've shot with, and is very quiet. My next step is to grab some brass inserts to try... Anyway, the DW is a solid product.
I'm leaning towards the DW kit, I like the idea of having multiple inserts. I like the stock empire sniper barrel kit, best one I've used so far. But want an even quieter barrel and more bore size options.
What front threading does the Empire kit use? Does DW offer it in a Whip Tip?
Seems as no one has spoken up yet i will. The j&j edge kit is really very good. I have used one for two years. They do make one with a .676 size and it goes up from there. It is an awesome product. For the price it's spectacular.
They would both work fine. As long as you can get the smaller sizes, you're golden. However, I will put my vote in for the DW. I have a Sniper, and my DW is my go to barrel. It just looks awesome on the Sniper.
Although I have used my Freak with 12" Teardrop front, and like that too. Has a cool look to it.
aa freak: had one, hated it. let the dog eat it.
dw: had one, hated it. sold it same day.
imo: for quiet? new stye kaner kit. that said - i play a lapco tight stick and don't bother with boresizing any more. It shoots everything just fine... and plenty quiet. No rollouts in ...forever.
