Corrosion/Oxidization on tank regulator?
Pulled the reg off of my Draxxus tank to get it hydro'd, and noticed some corrosion on it. I've taken the reg off multiple times and never seen this before. It's perforated it's way into a light coating throughout what I can see below the threading.
I don't have this problem on my PE tank. Not sure if it's something to be worried about. Should I attempt to clean this thing up? What type of solvents should I use?
Or, should I just buy a new reg? I was thinking of getting a Ninja regulator for my PE tank (68/45) and would then put that PE reg on my Draxxus tank (48/45 stubby).
Thanks for the help guys. I've attached some cell phone pics to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.
Had the tank been sitting empty for a while?
No. Was sitting w/around 3500psi in it. Been like that since July or August.
that is surface corrosion usually due to moisture. although the corrosion is not a major concern you should replace the reg *** it will not get any better. The main problem is that it will flake and get into the reg causing other issues.
do not clean it with any chemicals as this could lead to a bad situation the next time you fill it.
the bad part is you cant stop it but check more often and wipe it clean more often.
Should i be worried about anything spreading into my marker? I shoot an Ego and a CCM'd Freeflow.
as far as your guns they are usually ok because of all the stuff the air has to go thru before it gets to the insides but always a good idea to take a look.
Thank you very much for your help. I just ordered a Nina Ultralight regulator to replace the Draxxus one.
Should I be worried about oxidization that may be left on the threading of my tank transferring over to the new reg?
blow out the tank with normal shop air and this should help.
