Superstock with European(semi-only) board. Can I make it SF?

Hey all,

I just got a Superstock from ANS and it has "EU" in the item number. When I opened the frame to check the board I found that there was no jumper and no stickers telling me which jumper position activated which mode. The prongs for the jumper are present so I'm wondering if I liberate a jumper from an old computer hard drive if I can access the SF modes like the American versions.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

Can you return it? A new Superstock Select Fire is only about $160 these days from places like Action Village.

I got it from ANS...It's not worth the hassle of a return, I'm just wondering if the board has the SF functionality.

Try this at your own risk. If you fry your board doing something the manual did not instruct you are on your own.

OK. I have confirmed that the EU board and the SF board are exactly the same except the EU board does not ship with a jumper and the sticker inside that tells you which jumper position selects which mode. In order to use your EU board with the SF modes you just need a computer jumper from Radio Shack, a computer store or an old motherboard or hard drive. Once you have your jumper all you need to do is remember the following:

Top Jumper Position: Full Auto

Middle Jumper Position: 3 Shot Burst

Bottom Jumper Position: Ramping

No Jumper: Semi-Auto

Put the jumper in the proper position, turn on the marker and you are ready to go. Be advised that changing the jumper position while the marker is turned on will not change the mode. Apparently the marker senses the jumper position on boot-up and will stay in that mode until the marker is shut down and turned back on with the jumper in a different position.

I only use semi. It's more about buying one thing based on the web site description and receiving another. Since I actually received a fully functioned SF board, I don't have to be twisted about getting something different than I paid for. I'll never use anything other than semi but since I took the time to figure it out I thought I'd share with anyone in the same situation.

I would never use anything other then strickly semi in a game. (no f/a, burst, ramp, modes, etc).

But I DO find full/auto very usefull for testing purposes, specifically cycle rates, dwell times, and feedrates.

For example, I might see what see the hopper can keep up with at full-auto. Then set a semi/auto cap at that level, and never worry about chopping a ball.

Or if I want to test an upgrade. Like my old stock rainmaker would do about 12cps before shortstroking. With the hose kit, that jumped to 14cps. With a sledge, it jumped to 16cps. Then 18cps with a few more tweaks and mods. Then like above, I would set the semi-auto cap at the max cycle rate, and not worry about shortstrokes.

Benchmarking with full/auto is reall great way to make very accurate performance tests. It would be hard to imagine a way to replicate the above tests without a board that has those modes.
