I love the sound mine makes as it shoots, you can hear the air going through the internals and then the HUGE <crack> as it fires (mine has a Loudener on it). Even without the Loudener it's pretty loud.

i equate the loudness of a vector shooting at me with a b.a.r. there is a characteristic sound to it that is, well, intimidating.

The simpliest explanation would be to say a non-electro Rainmaker.
Or an autococking Sterling. (there are animations for those guns around). Similar to an autococker, except the Vector runs open-bolt.

Simply, the trigger is connected to a 3-way valve, which controls a pneumatic ram, which is connected to a bolt. The internals are typical pump-style bolt, hammer, and valve.

A few things made is special over the cocker. First, the trigger was FULLY PNEUMATIC making is very fast. Second, the LPR was vastly over-built, so it could even run a siphon tank. Thirst, it would sorta designed pinch instead of chop paintballs. Forth, it was cosmetically pretty cool, though the barrel release system was a bit awkward.

No wait... thats Montneel.
You're not kidding! I had a bunch of old RentalZs and an Nitro Z that I positively could not get rid of a few years ago... I think I made $120 on eBay for the lot of them.

Now? They're actually valuable, or something...

Its a bit of a touchy subject, but the only negative aspect of MCarterbrown is that this website has driven the price up on old guns through a variety of ways.

For example, I don't bother with Ebay searches. I'll just look here to see whats listed in the ebay sections. Lots of other people also look there, which can lead to bidding wars.

I had a bidding war with someone here for a purple MegaZ. I won it for $250. A couple years before that, I won different splash MegaZ for $50, and it came with a mint Illustrator.

It also drives up demand. Partly because it increases exposure to guns. Like Air Power. The original thread was "Whats the deal with Vectors?". To ME, they are nothing special. However, they have a certain coolness factor, so I'm sure some Vectors owners bought them to be cool and show off. While others legitimatly want a peice of history, or to relive the past (my case).

All this attention increasing demand, and in the market of old guns, the price is 100% dictated by demand.

That said, Montneel is not really in that high demand. It was really meant as a jab towards Air Power, and especially Palmers. But I added the quip about Montneel to avoid insulting anyone.

LoL! My first one was given to me by a friend who has 5 of them! Long before I found MCB. The current one cost me $67.

I know that they had some real problems with their first run and the media killed them even though they came out with a damn good product in the second and third models. Without a reg it is a nightmare but even running CO2 which everyone seems to think is pretty inconsistent these days, I get very little variance. The trigger is perfect for a short three round burst and the bolt head slider reset rather than chopping the ball is beautiful.

And this puppy works in Canadian winter.

I like the way mine feel in my hand and when I shoot them. I have had fewer problems with mine than with any other markers I have had, including a Viking and several Excaliburs. I don't know if I can pin down exactly why I like mine so much, but they work for me in every way possible.

The original ones had a very strange air path and was prone to a few issues. The Model B/C that followed solved those problems, and made for a pretty reliable piece of paintball hardware. they are on of the few semi-autos that can run reliably on CO2 in 2 degree weather AND not break paint (when you have a .70 bore... its hard to bust paint in a barrel)
