TipX freak?

Can one use a a5/x7 freak back (with the extra metal before insert) on the tipx? I've heard that the OD of the back is too big, can this be fixed by not using the shroud?

Will removing the shroud and not using it cause any issues?

How much will it run me for a cocker threaded breech?

I know I've seen a thread or video on this before somewhere....the guy basically dremeled out the tpx halves so that the diameter of the freak back would fit. I believe he also had to use longer screws and ditch the shroud. Not sure if there were any problems with the bolt/insert interface. In any case, he claimed it worked just fine....

Your best bet is just to bore out the stock barrel and mill down the bolt tip. SSC in the airsmith section does both and his turn around it fantastic! (at least mine was which is all I can speak for) be warned though, without milling the bolt tip it can stick in your inserts.

Well that's the thing, I need to ship ssc my barrel from Canada and also pay him for his services. After that said and done it will at least cost me $60, and I would like use my AA tip

Not only that but I would need to get my bolt milled for smaller inserts, not only that but I would have an extra 7.75" of barrel to aim with

if you want a longer barrel... i can rethread for TPX threading, and freak bore them...

imagine a 18" Phantom barrel, TPX threaded and freak bored

but yes the bolt would still need to be modified

I can vouche for SSC's ability to chop, turn, down, retread, and freak bore a barrel to fit into a TPX. Hahaha, I ran out of barrels for modificarion Ryan!

Dammit Ryan move to Canada so shipping won't cost me a arm and leg!

But that is the thing though would it be even possible for you get a tipx shroud mill the hole bigger leaving almost nothing of that shroud and have a back that way?

I only ask this since I may pick up a tipx with my ccm in a few months here
