| Evil Omen Techmaster Join Date: Nov 2010 | Mags and co2
Alright, just bought a mag and all I have is co2, i do have an hoa tank but its empty, when I bought the marker they aired it up with co2 and hpa and it worked with both, so is it ok to air it up with co2 once for a little?

If it has a Classic valve then it's perfectly fine - just don't let liquid CO2 get into the valve. If it's an RT valve then you should just keep to HPA.

a vertical 3.5 will work just fine. It will tend to freeze up rather easily if you rapid fire.

I use a 4oz tank vertical on my MiniMag...however, keep in mind, Automags are gas hogs. You just don't get that many shots. You'll get roughly half what you would get on an actual Phantom. For years I ran my first Automag on CO2, with a bottom line, anti-syphon tube, and vertical expansion chamber. It ran fine, I could even play in the winter if I don't shoot that fast. If you really want to get old school, you can just coil up a hose like so (mine btw)...

My old minimag actually hated co2. it had a tendency to draw liquid co2 into the valve, even without shooting remotely fast (even without shooting). a/s setup stopped this from being such a problem, but I would still like to see if adding a stab as well would really make it shine. any words regarding adding stab (and other co2 friendly regs?) to mags run off co2? particularly a/s co2 as specified thx

I mostly run my Classic valved Automags with HPA these days but I still have one setup to use CO2. I have an anti-siphon tank matched to the 'gun and then use an expansion chamber in combination with that with good results. Things get a little iffy in colder temps (50 deg and lower) but above that CO2 will work OK. HPA is the better choice if it is possible.
