I also have to wonder, how hot your water is? Carbon fiber can handle a bit of heat, since they make hoods for cars out of the stuff. So I would imagine, unless someone knows differently, that you could leave it in some boiling water for a while as well.

I wouldn't suggest it because it'd probably mess up the finish inside the barrel, but I used a bit of hot water and some dish soap, and a thin tooth brush and LIGHTLY scrubbed a bit of gunk off my barrel. Still shoots laz0rz.

My outlook: I'd rather have minuscule scratches from the toothbrush than a glob of old paint stuck inside my barrel

the dish soap is just a really good degreaser :/

Any known complications between goo-gone and carbon fiber? I may have to track down a cheap soft tooth brush.

Not that I know but you should check just in case, you can also soak a swab with it and try to brush it out.

carbon fiber is held together with a resin like fiberglass. Once it is dry, it is pretty chemical resistant. Most common house hold cleaners will be fine to use on it. The resin will also with stand temps past that of boiling water, not that you should put it in a pot of boiling water but you could pour boiling water on it in a different bucket, then let soak.
Try useing a bottle brush, I have a nylon bottle brush that has worked well for me and all the fromer rentals I have bought over the years. The one I have is about 2 feet long, got it at a kitchen supply store(for get which). I have not had a problem with it scratching any barrel yet.
