Automag modifications/upgrades

Automag modifications

I would like to make my automag more accurate and much more quiet. I am wondering if these ideas will be the correct way to fix this.
I presently have a 12 in. stainless steel barrel without any porting. I wonder if a ported barrel would make it much more quieter. I was also thinking perhaps of 14 or 16 in. barrel with porting would improve accuracy and quietness. I also have to replace the O-rings that hold the detent in the barrel. I am wondering if not having these O-rings is causing a loss of power through leakage?

you won't get a leak because of those O-rings, they basically hold the barrel in and thats about it.

As to your accuracy, as always a good paint/bore match is the best thing you can do.
And yes porting will quiet down the gun some.

Best suggestion a good barrel kit, personally I like the freak but any kit will help alot.

I have one undersize oring holding and the detent in place.

I have one undersize oring holding the detent in place. However the other day the barrel fell off on the paintball battlefield. It's a good thing that I noticed it right away.

The o-rings help steady the barrel as well.
If you are missing one of the two o-rings on the barrel or using undersized ones the barrel is most likely lose in the marker. If it's wobbling around, even a bit your accuracy is going to be terrible.

mods? uh............. RT on off makes for a lighter pull
pneumag frame....make the pull lighter and shorter than a RT on off
thats all that would really make a difference with the gun

the only way to make a mag quieter is a longer barrel from what i hear

if your feeling really stupid try polishing every moving part...i polished my AIR reg...didnt do anything though

ported barrels are quieter. Longer barrels give a perception of sound reduction since muzzle is now farther from face.

A loose barrel even in a paintgun will shoot unpredictably.

a decent barrel with proper O rings is likely all you need.

Thank you for all the advice.

Thank you for all the advice. I have just started playing paintball and every time I play I try to make some improvements.

About four weeks ago I jammed the barrel in the gun partially due to the O-rings. So when I finally got the barrel out I only used one oring which was undersized for the purpose of holding in the detent.

I will try with new O-ring to see if the accuracy improves.

I also wanted to get a ported barrel so I could be more stealthy.

I have a 14" carbon fiber barrel on my mag and I'm told it is very quiet.
