Somebody school me on new e-guns...

I find myself leaning towards purchasing an electro at some point, and the only ones I'm familiar with have been out of production for quite some time now.

I like the way Minis look, but I know nothing about them, or anything else on the market. I'm hoping for something that's not maintenance intensive, since I'm an intermittent player at best, although that will change in the near future hopefully.

Opinions on anything are welcome.

Budgets probably around $200 or so. I've got a HPA tank, and I plan to use my trusty 12V Revvy. (Don't laugh.)

“But Lord,” asked Gabriel, “Is this not too generous to these Canadians?”

And God replied, “Just wait and see the neighbors I shall inflict upon them.”

Around $200ish, your best bet is probably an eNVy or a Blitz. For another $50 you can get an eXTCy or any number of good used guns. The biggest bang for the buck in new guns is the Axe, but it's around $350.

One of the qualifications of any electro I own seems to be that it is out of production.

I'll ask the same question, but also "is there a new electro that comes with a hard on/off switch that interrupts the battery power?"

This is something that keeps a couple of my electros in play. After months of sitting in the closet, the battery will still be good (you still need to visually check them). A month in the closet will kill a battery in some markers with soft switches. A leaking battery can kill the whole board, then the marker is extra-useless.

I guess an easy change battery would be pretty good. It's more trouble getting the battery out of an A1 fly than a gen-E matrix.

Anyone try an aura/proton lately? This was the last I saw

You could get by with a mini or an infinity legend. You'd have to shop around but when I bought my legend 4-5 years ago when they were still pretty new I only paid like $200 for it.

Make sure the mini is close to the newest gen. Less bugs.

For a little more you could probably score an 06 ego.

That's the one I had in mind.

Helion (I think) has a nice 06 ego too.

Ego 8 is a lil out of your price range but the difference is worth it IMO. The AXE is a nice marker as well for the money but still more then your $200 cap

Thing is, I could care less about ROF. I'm more into accuracy, noise level, amount of maintenance required.

If it looks good, shoots 35BPS, and I need to tear it down every 4 hours of play, then it's not for me. I'll just get a mech Cocker then. At least those I can rebuild in about 10 minutes.

I'm no good with electronics - if I can't toss a battery in and go play, I don't want it. My Angel LED was perfect for that - I made sure it was charged the night before, hooked an air supply up to it, and played. No fuss.

I'm also looking for a more comprehensive review than just "it shoots fast/accurate/blah blah"... that's what most information on the Net is at this point. (Geez I miss Ravi's reviews. )
