They're also called tool rolls. Mine's an old snowboard one I found, oddly enough, at my grandparent's when going through the junk they had in the back room.

It's a 6 pocket one that holds 3 backs, 1 front, and 8 inserts.

They're usually found for $5 - $20 and can have anywhere from 6 to 20 pockets. I recommend checking them out in person at your local Harbor Freight, Walmart, etc. as sometimes they list them with many pockets (ie. 32), but some of those pockets are meant for sockets and are too small for inserts. Though, I guess you could use them for 12's or something.

You could also probably make one pretty cheap out of canvas, a shoestring, some good thread, and a bit of time. Custom fit it to your needs and all that.

If you're worried about the outside only being canvas and something damaging the inserts, just buy a family size peanut butter and chuck it in there. I recommend eating the peanut butter first, though

It's kind of what I had in mind. I have a plastic on for my wrenches. I'll have to check those places. That's a great idea.

Disclaimer: I've never used the following one for inserts.

14 Pocket Tool Roll

From the description:

Quote:
14 Pocket Tool Roll

This durable polyvinyl roll has 14 pockets for wrenches, rasps or similar tools. Lightweight and easy to carry and stow, this tool roll is a handy alternative to lugging your bag around. Just tuck away your desired tools, secure the convenient cotton web tie straps and you're ready to go!
26-1/2" wide x 13" high unrolled
Four 2-1/2" W x 6"H accordion pockets for bulky tools
Ten 6" high flat pockets ranging from 1-5/8" to 2-1/2" W

Convenient cotton web tie straps
Should hold 10 inserts and maybe up to 8 fronts/backs fairly easily as long as you don't mind doubling up on the 2-1/2" W pockets. Put inserts in the backs and you'll only gain more storage. Might be a stretch to double up. Then it would only be 4 fronts/backs.

I ended up buying a hard case for a Nintendo DS on clearance at Kmart for $7. I added foam to both sides and it holds 4 inserts perfectly still even when shaken.
