cutting down a PPS/Sheridan grip frame

how much meat do you think can be removed from the standard grip frame on a Hounds-Tooth?

you think this could be done?
cutting away everything on the grip frame except the mount screws, the sear and safety...

I'm thinking a Hounds-Tooth, grip frame trimmed, bolt lever installed on the bolt and put the whole rig into a wood stock.

** BTW i know that the marker in the pic is a Spring Fed Pug.

I think it would work. The sear would be kinda hanging out there. Just look where the pins are and make sure they stay put and it should be dandy. I think there is usually a spring in that area to load the sear so youl have to work that out.

there is a pin that holds the seat and a circular spring (like a clothespin) in the upper frame. You would need to maintain a rear rail thick enough, which should be just slightly thicker than your pic. The pistol trigger would be a bit forward of the kp, about 3.5", so more of the action would be rearward in the stock.

It could be done but you would be wise to make a linkage and a second trigger, the one on the gun would be well up in whatever stock you mount it in as well as too far forward to reach naturally.

The AT linkage goes in the safety hole... so he should be in good shape... but the way the picture is now the sear mounting pin is gone.

of course things would be adjusted for correct positioning once I had a real grip frame in hand to work with.
this was just a quick photo hack job in MS Paint to get the idea across.
and an idea just came to me today that has changed almost everything!
it's going to make the mods I'm working on so much easier!
I don't know why i didn't think of this before.

but just so DRUM doesn't come along and get all pissy with me again,
I'm going to keep this one to myself till I have pics to show off.
I'm just waiting for stuff in the mail now!
(and for my next pay day)

I think it would just be easier to send the gun to craig and have him drill an extra hole in it and make sure a KP trigger group fits. They you could mount it into a KP stock.

When you are having a HT made, just ask them to add the extra stuff incase you wanted to mount it in a stock. They quoted me an extra $20
to do that. So you just take out the grip frame, toss in a new hammer and KP trigger group

That is very simple.

yes that would be simple, provided i could find the KP trigger group.
but it dosen't address some of the other issues that I'm working around.

Lk,

I did something like that for a friend of mine that wanted his P68 mounted in a big custom stock because he is a huge friggen' guy

If your making the stock from scratch all you have to do is toss a double trigger shoe on it and make said stock thumb hole. The hole would be right about where your thumb would go normally on a sheridan frame.. Ill see if I can dig up pictures of it..
