EVector - revisited

Thanks to a handy part from Noxx, I just got my vector up and running again. Currently, its powered by a morlock, WGP lpr, AA Vigilante reg and has 1 qev up front (on the port furthest forward of the ram)

When it is fired quickly, the bolt stays forward too much, and is often released again without re-cocking. Im guessing the dwell needs increased, but should I have the qev on the other port?

I have to dig out the manual and get a chrony.. make sure my pressures are set right (about 600-700psi right now), and find my matched AS tank.. this thing likes to make ice.

Anything that can be done to speed the gun up without changing the Vector to much? I have not permanantly modified it in any way.

Just wondering, have you tried it on HP or is there a reason you are only doing CO2?

You say the bolt is released without re-cocking. Do you mean the hammer? The bolt is attached to the carrier.

You might try turning up your lpr up as it takes a bit of force to re-engage the hammer. A 2nd qev will help this as well.

not doing it on HPA for a few reasons.

1. Vectors dont ever seem to like HPA
2. I only have 2 3k tanks, both out of hydro and need parts for the regs
3. I can fill CO2 locally... and am getting a bulk tank (helps that I have 7 Co2 tanks as well)

I will try bumping up the LPR pressure. Right now it's just making the ram go forward before it can reset, so the bolt (and hammer) stutter.

What's the smallest QEV I can find to go on the back? dont want to machine the reciever to accept one back there.

Mine has Rainmaker qev's on it, by Punisher. When I get home I'll check and see if it required machining. They're facing each other so the lp hoses attach facing towards each other. I don't think the qev's take any room on the exhaust end, it's pretty much flush with the edge of the fitting.

Set your number 3 setting to anywhere between 32 and 45 ms. 35 is good starting point.
Set your number 4 setting at 12 or 15.
take your 2 numbers used and add them together for your number 6 setting

number 3 setting is how long the valve is powered
number 4 is how long it stays unpowered bettwen pulls. higher the number the more time it will have to chatch the hammer and reload a ball with out chopping
number 6 is the sum of 3 and 4 to equal the total cycle time. Lower this number is the faster it will cycle. Stock the board is set at 100ms for 6 this. Which means no matter what the other 2 are set at it will not fire faster then 10bps.
Most of the other boards out there already do these caculations for you. Since they only require the one setting and the hold off is configured by the bps setting. But on a morlock you will have to do it. Since the coding for the second noid option makes it imposible.
Now i probably confused you more. lol

are you using light oil, or grease on the bolt?

use oil, or you'll get a lot of stuttering

-Chachi

BTW
I used HPA on my Vector all weekend, and it was great!

HC - I'll wait for that before I buy any qev's. Right now I have a PPS (clippard?) one on there, and its pretty large.

RM - OUch... that hurt my head, but made sense. Let me fiddle with my settings. I really should reset to default and start over. (I started this with one of amcfall's custom boards.. with a serial interface. That was nice )

Ok my qev's have plenty of room. I know the pps ones are larger. If you need some RM ones, I think I have a few laying around. I'll take a pic tonight if you'd like. I only have internet at my office, not at home (damn teenager and his MySpace addiction). But like I said, the qev's long ends are facing inward, and the exhaust end doesn't stick out at all. There's a gap between the back one and the ram collar.

RM, your settings worked out great, SON time is set at 36, hold off is 14, and I have the ROF set around 12, to limit paint consumption.

The qev's make a huge differnce, thanks again Curt!

(Ive got such a grin, and my neighbors cant be happy......)
