If the paint is oblong and you are sizing on the small side (size the seam then size the paint ball vertically), you may be pinching the paint too much. With oblong paint, try to size in the middle of the 2 sizes.

The paint is my guess.

I got that a lot in the winter. Too cold and moisture built up on the barrel. And old, dimpled paint.
If you´re in hot climate, can also be sweating paint, but has the same symptoms.

I have one 689 barrel with wedgits and that was is what I shoot when I have problems.

Wedgited standard bore like baader is talking about really kicks butt some times. I had a complete set of lapco barrels, like 7 barrels ranging from .681 with wedgits, .681 without, up to .689...and a racegun barrel kit which was also real nice.

For some reason, the palmer 12 inch ported wedgited .689 was shooting a lot more accurately. Paintball involves a lot of magic. Hexes on certain pieces of gear, blessings on others all come into play :P

Had an issue with my Freak last season, it was with Empire's new custom blend? It shot ball on ball out of the Tippman's, but would wing horribly to each side if I sized it with my Freak. It didn't even go too well through my hammerhead either.

It was really just the paint. I eventually over bored it and the paint shot much better. It didn't look oblong or bad in any way really, the seam might have been pronounced tho, I forget this was like last season.

I figured out what was going on. I sized my paint in the am when it was about 40-45, didnt change my inserts as the temp got up to 60. I think my paint contracted a little when it was cold so when it warmed up the insert was too small warping my balls.

When I sized the same paint today it was a larger bore than I played wit on sunday. This time my shots were dead on. Thanks for the help.
