PT Enforcer horrible efficiency

Hi everybody,
I acquired a PT enforcer pistol recently and it's not very air efficient.
When I first got it, I was able to get 4-5 shots before the hammer would stop cocking by itself.
I changed all the o-ring and velocity seems fine, but I don't get much more shots. I'm at 7-8 shots now, maybe 10 if I shoot slowly.

Anybody has a clue about this problem or was it a common issue with these pistol?
Could it be the Co2 cartridge brand I'm using (They come from Kee I think)?

Thanks for your help.

What do you mean "velocity seems fine"? Do you have an actual chrono? If not, you're stabbing in the dark. If you're shooting at 330 fps you're going to get a lot fewer shots than if you're shooting at 260-280. Without knowing where you're at now, it's hard to recommend a solution, but normally the trick to efficiency with STBB pistols is balancing the valve spring with the hammer spring. Poor efficiency would tend to imply you need to stretch the valve spring a bit or get a stiffer one.

Paint-barrel match will matter a lot, too, on the old pistols. IIRC, PTEs have MONSTROUS barrels. So if you're trying to shoot tiny paint through it, efficiency will suffer.

Eh, to an extent, but my Zeus has a .693 ish barrel and I still have no issues getting 28 good shots out of a 12g with it, even with tiny paint. Valve control is a much more important factor.

Oh yeah...I didn't mean to imply that that was the primary issue. Not by a looooong shot.

I don't have a chrono so I can't say accurately what's my velocity.
Although I have a trick with a swab that is good for an approximation, I'd say the pistol is around field limits. I will chrono it next time I go to my local field and I'll take a look for new springs.
Thanks for the inputs guys!

Ultimately, that is still very much guessing. If you want to repair/refurbish/mod paintball guns, especially 12g powered ones, a decent chrono is as important as Allen wrenches.

Yes you're right, it's the most important tool when it comes to fine tuning.
I chrono'd ~240fps this weekend, highest was 250fps and average was around 230-235. I'm still getting 10 shots per 12g, after that it won't recock. Like I said earlier, all the seals are new and it's properly oiled, I wonder if changing the springs could make a difference?

bob_wuzza:
My swab trick is I judge velocity depending how far a swab travels when fired, it's not accurate but it can give you an approximation.
