Running co2 in a pre 2k cocker converted to pump

Description of issue:

Functions fine at home indoors in controlled normal room temperature with a/c. No actual rounds shot indoors but I am experienced enough to know that there is sufficient flow to fire a round at a reasonable velocity at minimum main spring tension.

Outside once the gun has stabilized to ambient temp, nada. A pathetic pop and a roll out. This is on a good fill 3.5 oz and 12 grams.

Pre 2k Gen X body, valve and internals.

I live in Florida and its Africa hot right now. I have been thinking the co2 is just too warm thus making for too much pressure on the valve which prevents it from opening. I have tried a variety of springs and valves-same deal: no function when its warm, seems great at home in controlled temps.

Am I even close to being right? What am I missing?

Unregged, no expansion chamber.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response.

No, venturi bolt. No hole in it to be upside down.

I shoot all pump, all snipers, all compressed air and I do all my own builds. The basics, and more, are covered.

I was under the impression that by using pre 2k materials, co2 would not be an issue-So what do I not know, what am I missing or what can I try?

Simple... If that is the case, try out a heavier main spring! Crank it up and smack that valve right open, you'll find out right away if it can produce enough velocity

Is it working with HPA, but not with CO2?

Already heavy main and weak valve.

It is possible to have too much pressure, but the 12gs would be well warmed. Also, you could continue to try to shoot the 12g out and it would give you a good shot or two on the end at least, if it were over pressured.

Get a little scale for that 3.5 oz if you don't have one. Even good fillers have trouble with little bottles (high and low fills).

Idk what kind of valve setup you should expect in a Gen-X. Does it have small ports?

You don't keep your CO2 in the trunk of your car on the way to the field, do you?

Havn't tried it. I want to run a 3.5 or 12 grams at the vert ASA.

The 12's were very warm. On the edge of too warm, they wered in my car for most of the day the first time I tried it at a field.
The second time was 3.5oz only and I made sure that the tanks were out of the car and warmed to ambient temp early in the day and the first thing I did was try it out-no dice.

By ports if you mean the vavlve-I have the pre 2k stock valve-it doesn't have just the two holes but is milled out circular with the material removed from between the two holes.
If you mean the port for the banjo/pump rod-yes-pre 2k small ports, same for the vert ASA, single port pre 2k style.

This is what I meant. That is a high flow (low pressure) arrangement that makes the valve have a smaller sweetspot range and less tolerant to high pressures. I'm not saying that's THE problem, but I would be suspicious of it.

If you have a pic of it, someone else may be able to say that they have, or have not, had some luck with it on unregged CO2.

Did Gen-x's come with regs or no?

Yeah, looks like a LP setup;
