Sheridan Equalizer

Ok, so at the field I normally play at, I'm usually the only stock class player there. One of the refs that knows I like old guns comes up to me and hands me a Sheridan Equalizer that he said he found in an abandoned building.

So now I have a very leaky Equalizer, and am trying to track down any seal kits that there may be floating around. I know that piece of crap gasket on the bottom is a potential leak, but the main leak seems to be happening when I pull the trigger on the gun. Without the bolt spring, it does fire, but it has a small leak somewhere else

Check out page 2 and see if you can location the part name that seems to be leaking.

Equalizer Technical Page

If you are lucky, it'll just be the bolt oring and that is a standard ASA oring.

Good luck.

Had a couple Equalizers pass through my hands and often had good luck with the bottom gasket by wrapping it with teflon tape. I let the gas punch its own holes through the tape for the ports when the gun was pressurized.

Also, how far does the gun need to be broken down for a proper rebuild?

I've only gotten to the plastic piece in the rearmost powertube "piece" near the ASA.

I will definitely give the teflon a try.
I am talking about the bottom gasket, which was made out of the same material as the detent (which cracked and died a horrible death).

Someone in the VM section is selling new detents.
I found that you can make a passable one out of a small zip-tie if you make a small loop and cut down the excess enough.

are you talking about he rectangle seal with 2 holes? If so that is no longer made. I believe that is the one The inflicted was talking about wrapping in tape.

I was indeed talking about that one. are there any other non replaceable seals on this gun I should know about?

I've always wanted a 68-Automag, and this is pretty similar in design, and it's a SHERIDAN (double win).

Also, how is this gun in terms of reputation? I seem to remember one of the "equalizer" named guns having a problem where it shoots the entire bolt out of the barrel?

I love VMs . . . I love sheridans . . . I think the equalizer is a horrible, ugly paperweight

I came to that conclusion from experiences with them. I wanted to like them, I really did
