Tips for choosing a new remote

Hi all.

I'm looking for some tips on how to choose the right remote. Are there things I should look for or avoid? The last remote I owned was over 15 years ago and I picked it out by the price (cheapest I found) lol.

What are some good quality brands to look for?

Is it all user preference when it comes to straight vs coiled? Or are there any actual differences?

I'm planning to use it with a 68/4500 HPA tank, tacticool'd Axe and TiPX (not necessarily both markers at once) if that makes a difference in what to look for.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, I see ANSGear sells similar Ninja ones: Ninja Remote Coil W/ Push To Connect (PTC)

Question though. I'm assuming if I get this type of remote, I won't be able to use it with a TiPX correct? Unless there's a new style male end for the TiPX?

Look up the pro connect 3 by psiworx on google. They were the original "ptc"/connex makers, everyone else copied them. They even make an adapter for the tipx.

Those are all existing PTC fittings actually, the Tippmann and Ninja ones are made by the same company. Plenty were in use on the paintball field before they started calling them the "pro-connect".

Links to Hustle Paintball for the PC3 Stuff:
Psiworx Pro-Connect III Complete Remote Coil - Lowest price available from HustlePaintball.com
Psiworx Pro-Connect III TPX Male End (PC3X) - Lowest Price Available from HustlePaintball.com

Also, if there is any problem/leaks with a PC3, usually its only 1 oring which they give you 3 of in the box.

If I recall correctly the Pro-connect has been out since around the Early 90s or so.

Are there milsim body kits (like for the Etha) that I don't know about? I've never seen a tacticool'd Axe before.

I have a zip connect, which is what is now being called the Pro-connect, since the 90's. Not sure if Psiworx has been around that long, but from conversations here on MCB, it is just a rerelease of the same thing from 20ish years ago.

Haha, it's actually the Etha EMC kit on the Axe. I saw the mod done by Snake from Houson Paintball. If you Google "axe emc kit" there's a link to his YouTube video and a link in the description to his step by step. Have to sand down some of the insides to make it fit, but it's nice and snug. So props go to him!

Also I forgot to ask a general maintenance question. Should I do anything like put a drop of oil in the remote's ASA? Or just use it and leave it alone?
