Freak insert sticks out the back

Hey guys,

I have a newer style cocker threaded freak back. When I put my inserts in they stick out the back about 1/16". My friend has the same back so I tried his and low and behold the insert sits flush like it should. Upon further investigation the problem is that my barrel back is 1/16" shorter than his behind the barrel threads.

I was just wondering, is this common? Any idea if I can get it replaced if it is a defect?

It shouldn't really matter. The back should still torque up and hold the insert tight. Unless you are having some performance issues, don't worry about it.

I haven't seen the "newer style," though. Are they not bored through the entire length anymore?

They are bored the entire length. I can put in on my axe, take out the bolt assembly and by loosening or tightening it I can make the bore move from one side to the other. Up down etc.

Try a different front with your back and see of you still have the same problem?

Well if he measured the lengths behind the threads and one is shorter....

Call up GOG and see if they can give you a replacement.

I tried the same friends front and it had the same result. So that's when I compared the 2 backs and saw that mine was shorter. I contacted gog though to see what they say. I just don't like the fact that depending on how tight I screw my barrel in moves the insert slightly in one direction.

Gog got back to me and had me send it in. Hopefully they will see that it's a defect and send me a new one.
