I am aware that snipers came before autocockers. That is just basic paintball history. I was just specifically refrering to factory built autocockers that have been converted to pump by removing the pneumatics and putting an aftermarket pump kit in its place. So it seems from most responses in this thread that the name sniper now applys to a gun that has been modified from factory form to be a pump. It just seems wrong considering that a converted autococker is just that. Not a sniper. Danssoslows car analogy is exactly what I wa getting at.

it's a sniper. any autococker converted to pump gets that name. but because people tend to make up their own names for things or totally disregard it in general cuz they have their own opinion on the matter and want to start bringing in non paintball analogies to justify it, is why we are having this conversation in the first place.

Here's one for yah. My friend has a SniperII. And back in the mid 90's he bought a STO body kit and transferred all the parts from his SniperII over to the STO. Now is that STO called Sniper or SniperII? LOL

Sniper II

Sniper III

Sniper

and so on

I only brought in non paintball anologies because I have been communicating with other people using the English language for 38 years. It's the only language I choose to use. I'd say it's rather effective. Think not? Ask Marbo40K.

If that red sniper above was parted to sell, would it be wrong to call it an Autococker body? Can you find that body kit Googling "Sniper body kit"?

Not really an autococker... But it is.

Not a sniper or pump cocker or cocker pump.

Analogies don't have anything to do with the English language. They can be done in multiple languages... not sure why you brought that up. Congrats for using it for 38 years.

And for the later, if the red prostock was parted, of course it's not wrong to call it an autococker body... thats what it is. And no you can't find it by googling "sniper body kit" try it and see. But you can find it by searching "sniper autococker" and that's due to the fact that everyone calls it what they want.

Can't really call it an autococker cuz the names trade marked but yes it is

and I would call ccm's snipers. only cuz they "most of em" were built based on the cocker platform

just like the new empires... sniper/resurrection

in the end, like i said, they will be called what people want to call em. im over it.

So it's the magical joining of the pumpkit to the body that makes it not an autococker body... So when the pump kit is removed it becomes an autococker again? Even with no front block? What if I bought the red body after the separation from the pump kit, as an autococker body, and made a bolt action gun out of it? Would that be a bolt action cocker or a bolt action sniper? But remember I would have bought it as and autococker body because it was separated from the pump kit...

If it were never an Autococker, how could it be correct in calling it so? It was never an Autococker body was it? It was never made as such.

Paintball Gateway sells "Autococker body kits" that have never been autocockers. They don't even come with front blocks!!! What makes those Autocockers?

...and I believe that "autococker" would be the keyword in "sniper autococker" finding anything.

...and if it because "everyone calls it what they want", then what will everyone else do to communicate? Play along, maybe? Sure you would! As you said, that red body alone is an Autococker body, right?
