He says I need the fire power that comes with open class. I'll be picking up a phantom late Jan early Feb. Thanks for all the help with choosing a phantom and the tips as well.

If you want fire power play with a semi. I made that mistake with my first OC pump. I totally sucked until I came to the realization it was a pump and stopped trying to shoot so fast.

Stock Class

He ordered a T2, and told me to get one. I then had to explain that I don't have the money he does which is partially the reason I'm going stock class

T2 is a phenomenal gun but you should get whatever you want. The phantom is very versatile and a great shooter.

Don't be swayed away. Get a stock class phantom. If stock class isn't your bag then get an open class body. They have right, left and vert feed if you like that but end up preferring a sniper platform you can build them cheap or trade for one. You don't have to have a CCM to have a great sniper.

I'm not easily deterred, I'm like my dad in that sense. Eventually I'll pick up a sniper for open class. How do the detent rings from Mike work?

For what they are they work well, but I recommend getting your or another barrel freak bored. Until then they will work. I never had a problem with them

Detent rings+stock barrel is awesome as long as you use good paint. You can't skimp on paint! Detent rings will destroy low quality paint. Now that freak inserts are small enough I'm considering one of Mike's freak barrels but really the rings are great.

This sounds like the group I play with! Huge pool of experience to learn from but I got destroyed for probably my first 6 months playing with them. I learned so, so much though.

You won't be disappointed by a phantom, its a great buy. I personally prefer the freaked barrels to the detent rings, but that's mostly because I always lose the rings.

There's a few great threads here about stock class rigs, check them out. Lots of great info there!

I think I'm going to pick up an open class sniper and rig a fee tube to it. I think I've seen pics of that on here, then once I get completely comfortable playing pump I'll get a phantom
