Yeah,

I didn't catch that. OP, It sounds like you are kind of stuck in a rut. Why not really break out and try a mag? You can get one in excellent condition for half your budget, and for smoothness of shot, well, even by today's standards they are plenty smooth.

I'm also really surprised you weren't wowed by the shot quality of the Axe. How is that even possible?

Or maybe you were, but simply like some variety?

Well, I’m a gun whore at heart. I am always looking for something new to try and experiment with, so I think that’s a big part of it.
My s6.5 shot really nice, but I just had a hard time with $600 wrapped up in a gun when I only play about 5-10 times a year.
I really liked the way the axe shot, but I just can’t get use to that small body. I need something a little taller. If I could find a larger bodied gun with the shot of an axe, it would be game over for me… well, for a couple of weeks, at least. 
And at the end of the day, the issue may really be as simple as just a few months of bad paint at the field.

If you liked the shot of the Axe and are heading down the electro road you should try out the Insight. Beautiful milling, super smooth, and the frame has a nice stretch when compared to an Axe. And Bob Long rocks.

How do you figure? The Works is not smoother, quieter, more efficient and it's heavier and less comfortable.

Coming from someone that's owned an S6 and an older Works cocker, along with several other 'nostalgia era' cockers, I love my Res and consider it to be more comfortable, much lighter and with comparable component quality. Hell, when it comes to being "wowed" by a cocker-based marker, this probably wowed me more than anything else I can remember. I wouldn't trade it for any of the older cockers aside from a select few such as an AKA roundbody Merlin decked to the hilt with AKA parts.

The Resurrection needs nothing out of the box. Nothing. You're wasting your time if you do a darn thing. Tinker with it if you want but the quality of the parts is outstanding, especially for a seemingly mass-produced marker.

I current have a Works and have owned several S6's and currently have 2 S6 & S6.5. The Works is incredible. I have not shot a Resurrection. IMHO, the tolerance on the Works are superior, the trigger frame and front block components are superior. I have had shocktech, Mark II and a Besales RF cocker and the Works beats them all hands down.

Empire snipers are becoming crappy after a year, an Empire cocker is the last thing I would buy. You can get a much nice older cocker (Works, Freeflow, Besales, Eclipse) for similar cash.

Shoot one, handle it, and get some experience with one first before assuming.

My opinion of it was similar to yours until I did just that, hence the wow factor once I actually used it, handled it, and inspected the details a bit closer. It's a much nicer marker than you seem to think and there's no way I'd choose most older cockers over it now. It's that good.

You could pick up a very nice used Palmer's Blazer in that price range.

Check out literally any year of the DM series from 2k6 on. Fantastic shooting guns. I've said it many times, but I believe the 9 and 10 to be the best, but any of them can be amazing performers.
