I edited to include that it doesn't even have the cutouts for the safety.

Yes, I have one that fires if cocked, put to safe, then de-activate safety. I think Drum does as well.

I believe the cause was found to be a Minnesota Engineer.

Yeah probably... damn minnesota engineers and their pennsylvania counterparts

Mine on my pmi/kp conversion with my finger off the trigger and slide the safety when uncocked... it's on safe. Will go home and check to see if I can get it on safe with the hammer cocked.

I've got a pump-action rimfire .22 that does something similar... I bought it off an employee, and apparently it was slightly "modified" by the previous owner, and used in attempted scam in the 1950s. My employee recieved it from his grandfather, who was the judge on the case. I guess the guy tried to shoot himself and then sue, but accidently commited suicide. His wife then took it to court, and failed miserably.

Either way, it does several things that are a bit scary:

1) Pull trigger, engage safety while pulled, pump & it fires.
2) Engage safety, pump, turn off safety & it fires
3) Pump, engage safety, unengage safety, pull trigger & nothing unless you cycle the live round through.

It's a pretty useless gun to begin with (it started it's life as a carnival "gallery gun" in Lynn, Mass.) and has some issues, but it's a fun plinker with an odd backstory. Either way, it doesn't sound half as bad as the rocker safety on old KPs. The major problem is having to pump it to un-engage the safety when it's cocked, which means cycling through a live round.

Wrong end. I was talking about the butt end. It was in reponse to whether the recoil pad was stock or not. I am pretty sure it was not.
