Barrel de resonator for paintball?

A barrel de resonator is a rubber piece that slides over a barrel on real firearms, made in order to change the harmonics of a barrel by moving it up and down the barrel. When a bullet is fired, the barrel will vibrate, and if the barrel is at the peak of its vibration when the bullet exits, it will be thrown (slightly) off course. The de resonator will change the harmonics of the barrel, in order to make the vibration of the barrel closest to its resting point, making the grouping as small as possible. The position of the deresonator would have to be changed based on the load (powder and weight).

My question is: is this applicable to paintball? I know ballistics between paintball and firearms is very much different, but would it have any effect on groupings anyways? Anyone have any experience with this?

I have seen the paintball varients around, and am more than certain you won’t find any noticable results using them shooting paint.

I dont think it vibrates enough to do this. However, i could be wrong. Also if we could dampen the harmonics on it, not sure how much difference we would see. Though im willing to test

If you watch slow-motion video of paintguns, you do not see any barrel flex or vibration.

Unlike firearms. Slow motion, especially of the larger rifles, is mesmerizing watch the metal parts flex and bend.

Love watching his videos, the guns he gets to fiddle with are awesome.

I commend your taste in firearms channels. Has anyone actually used on on a paintball marker? I've seen them in pictures on this website before.

There would be no function in paintball.

That is known As barrel whip, as the motion implies. The forces are just not there that the paintball barrel already overcomes.

Limbsaver did sell them for paintball guns for a little while. They called them Sniper Donuts.

There was a good haggle over barrel vibration in a "ballistics" thread around here a while back. Search the thread titles for "balllistics"

Paintball barrels are short and stiff for the forces involved. The projectiles are also much worse on accuracy than any vibration.
