New X7

I just bought one of the new X7s from tippmann with a preinstalled response trigger. However, right out of the box it's chopping balls like crazy and it kills a 48/3000 psi tank in one hopper. The only addons I put on it were the flatline barrel and a commando air thru stock. Can anybody help me?

What's the velocity at? If it's too high, that could increase gas consumption and cause barrel breaks.

It's at 294 now. But I tried it from 240 all the way to 294 and I had the same problem.

If it is like an A5 RT there is a needle valve to adjust the amount of air to the trigger return cylinder. It should be in the rear elbow for the small hose on the right side.
it looks like a set screw coming out of the elbow, turn it all the way in (clockwise) and the test the gun again.if the chopping stops the slowly back it out to increase the RT effect.closing the valve slows down the RT and sends more air to the cyclone so it can feed properly. If it doesn't stop check the sear and hammer notch for wear or damage.

I've heard lots of stories about brand new x7's breaking paint. Some folks have had good luck sanding the parts of the cyclone where it feeds into the marker. Apperently there have been sharp edges from the molded plastic. Can't give you too much detail, but I hope that helps. Maybe someone else can elaborate...

As posted before it could be the Rt..and needs adjusting or the sharp burrs left from the factory which I would check first as many fellow players had to deburr...also inspect the internals after doing both mentioned above if still breaking paint..as they are the simplest do first..

one last thought..check barrel to marker fitment...see if the is anything that would break paint also..

One of the guys at my field bought an X7 and has not been able to shoot it through a 5 minute game yet and rarely gets it chronographed without making soup. It's a blender no matter what kind of paint he tries. I wish I could offer some help to clear up the issue but all I can do is tell you "You're not alone." when it comes to the X7 and paint breakage.

Maybe try the Tippmann.com forums or PBN's Tippmann owners forums to see if there's something you can adjust to make it work better. There is also a rubber cyclone impeller that is supposed to reduce paint breakage but I'm not sure who makes it. Google it and see if throwing some money at it will help(it usually does ).
