Some were made with that giant flap (cough Smart Packs cough) but then we changed it to be the two webbing straps that you see on everything today.

Yep, I snapped a screen from one of the Blizzard videos.

I hate vertical packs. Never understand why they become popular.

Fortunetly, horizontal packs are still very common. A quick look in ActionVillage shows these horizontal packs:
32-degrees (4), PMI (4+1), REDZ (6+1), Kingman (4+1, 6+1)

However, the 6+1 are the split style. 3 on left, and 3 on right.
I have a couple that are 6 on left which is PERFECT for me, though I can't find those any more. The 32-degree versions are reversable.

I've always loved the JT Slam Packs. Ever since I quit playing backman in tourneys (with a mech M98C, believe it or not!), 4 pods is about all I need in an average game, and you can get the Slam Packs for real cheap used. Never had a problem with them dropping pods.

I do have a Ronin Gear Max Pack (think that's what it's called) that carries an insane amount of paint, like 14 pods and an air tank. I'll have to look at it when I get home, but I think they discontinued it. It still is a bit much, and I really haven't ever used it to full effect, like a weekend long scenario game, like it was meant for.

Edit - I was wrong, they still make it! Check it out here - 14 pods of paint (7 horizontal pods per side), plus a tank pouch. Definitely have to use the included suspenders when carrying a full load.

hi,

not to thread jack but I wish Unique sporting was around. They made a good pack. I should have bought my 8 and 1 back then but who knew Rose would have gone out of business.

Going back into the old paintballers home,
shaggy
