Nelson Restoration Questions

1. How would you deal with pitting in the barrel?

2. what is the best way that you have found to remove the paint thats left over? (this is taking me forever)

Hone lightly, leave the barrel pits they do not effect the guns performance you want to preserve the small bore.

After monkeying around tearing mine apart and sanding/polishing the bolt and hammer for most of Saturday, I have come to the conclusion that I need to find a shop that will bead blast for me, after seeing the 007 restoration thread in the Custom forum. It's just too much of a PITA to try and strip finish, sand, etc. and bead blasting looks oh so sessy.

Actually, call General Joe's/Valley race way. I know he used to bore and hone 007 barrels. Might still be able to help.
Later,
Blackrain

Effort = results take short cuts and the steel and pot metal will let you know.

I usually put in 8-12 hours in to a restoration it is all about the prep to make the finish.
