HPA tank maintenence

I have a HPA tank with a leak at e the valve stem (pin). Someone told me a drop of gun oil would fix it ........but ......I remember the story about exploding tanks.

It seems to leak as the tank pressure is lower or less full.

Oil is a no-no with Compressed air.. even if applied on the pin side, there is a chance it could get in the tank and eventually become an aerosol and combust with increase in temp at filling.

The correct fix: An o-ring may be shot. Have it checked out by a competent airsmith... not just some shmuck behind the counter at the local paintball store. They might be able to fix it for you.

Advisor 1/2 owns a paintball shop.

Surprisingly my advisor........... 1/2 owns a paintball shop. But he's hardly a real paintball expert.

Who would be an airsmith (presumably a experienced shop owner). I think shop owners are more interested in selling a new tank.

Yea, 9 out of 10 times, its the oring, depending on your tanks manufacturer you can always call them and ship the tank in. Or take it to a local service PB center and have them replace the oring inside.

Quick fix, just push the pin in then quickly release, as the oring sometimes gets caught which pinches it, allowing the air to leak out.

Good luck
