I'm quickly finding out that buying used CO2 tanks is for the birds. The cost of the tank is typcially less than the cost to hydro test it. So if you buy a used tank for 1/2 price only do so because it's got half its 5 years of life left to go. Otherwise all you've got is a spare valve.

Yep, I just buy new extra bottles whenever I make an actionvilliage order. Can't beat 20 oz. for $15 and 12 oz. for $13.

But then again, I fill my own bottles, so out of hydro tanks don't bother me either.

Yeah, I guess you can't really sue yourself if it blows while you are filling it.

How about if it blows later when the guy next to you gets killed? Would you be held responsible then? Small chance of it happening...but...

Its not illegal to fill an "out of hydro" tank. Only to transport that tank. So, hard to say how the lawsuit would work, though, as they say, you can sue anyone for anything.

The best thing to do with old tanks is to exchange them at Walmart, if possible.
Though, I've been retesting all my annodized 20oz tanks. The local guy does them for $15, with valve install. Can't beat that.

Argg, no you can't. None of my local guys will touch paintball tanks. One of these days I'll send out the pile of 3k PSI tanks I have collecting dust.

If you want to get some tanks rehydroed at a reasonable price, checkout Crossfires offer on their main page: http://www.crossfireinc.com/.

It's $15 with a coupon, don't know about shipping, but I find that price hard to beat.

Call "Johnsons Sporting Goods" in Maine.

That guy does the hydros for most of the fields in Maine. Dirt cheap. Ship it in with return postage, and you will probobly get it back in less then a week.

I was just there yesterday. I blew the siphon on my tank, and I had him pull the valve off for me. For free.

Yeah, I've seen their offer. Looks pretty good. Warpig did a review of their service. I'm considering checking out their service for an embedded label also....

Thanks for the contact, I'll give them a call when I get myself organized.

There was a sticky on this subject on the old board. It had the actual DOT text, IIRC. Is that thread irretrievably gone?
