JB Weld removal

what is/is there a best way to remove JB Weld? Previous owner used it to attach pump arm to back block. Thanks for any advice!

You have to heat it above 600 degrees.
That is pretty much the only way....

That almost certainly means there's no threads in your back block.

Use heat as said but go easy. The epoxy will melt before you affect the color but not by much. You may want to play the flame on the pump rod near the back block but don't actualy let it hit the back block. A little patience and the heat will run along the rod and melt out the JB nicely with no effect on the BB coloring.

If the rod goes tan or blue that's fine, It'll polish off afterwards. If it DOES go blue then you're too close with the flame. Back it off a bit and be patient. Don't let it go from blue to the dull black which means it's about to start glowing.

Some heat will go the other way as well. Use a wet rag around the last couple of inches right by the plastic pump handle to protect it. Or just unscrew it from the handle.

Who? Moi?

Just part of the whole "shop" experience. I'm hoping to set up a gas forge after I retire and make some forged knives. I'm also hoping to try my hand at some damascus/japanese multi folded metals.
