The Qb series are excellent for the price.

Chinese Air Rifles | Airguns | CO2-Powered | Archer Airguns

Depending if you want 12 gram (qb 78) or to use a bottle (qb 79) they are very upgradeable, with trigger kits, barrels, breechs, stocks, and etc. I shoot one myself and it is very nice. Lots of modding to be done to them as well, like drilling out the bolt, replacing the seal between the breech and bottom for a piece of rubber tube, spring work, valve work and etc.

I'd be happy to run you threw it if you want.

Best is relative to how much you have to spend, better pick a price point or you will be in the 8k range.
You next choices are break barrel, PCP, CO2, pump, under lever.

then you will have to decide on caliber .177, .20, .22, .25 etc

.22 is the best all around caliber. It packs alot of energy (double the energy of a .177 around the same fps.) And it is easily available. You'll want a domed round as they are somewhat more stable in the air then wadcutters, hollow points, or even pointed pellets at a distance.

You'll have to decide if you want a break barrel,undercocking/side cocking, pcp (you'll need a scuba tank or hand pump for that),multipump or c02/hpa.
Plus you'll want to decide on either a pistol or rifle.

If you use anything with a spring in it(undercocking/break barrel) You'll want a heavy duty scope like a leapers one or else the sights will just move around and wont stay adjusted due to the recoil.

seems like .22 might be worth looking at for the above reasons. and i think i want a rifle..

i have a scuba tank already... what advantage/disadvantage are there for each style?

Its towards the bottom of the page the qb78 and qb79. Its modeled after the crosman 2260. Getting that instead of the Ar2078A custom leaves you with the option to upgrade it the way you want. But the AR2078A custom would work well if you want something you can grab and go with.

Since you have a scuba tank available a pcp would work great. Air guns - BB Guns - Pellet guns - Air rifles - Crosman - Gamo - Daisy - Beeman - PyramydAir.com

I own a .44 big bore from sam yang and its very fun to shoot but does get costly.
If I were you I would consider looking at this Benjamin Sheridan Benjamin Discovery Dual Fuel Rifle & Pump. Air rifles - PyramydAir.com
It has more then enough power to take down small game (You could use it for pest control and etc) And it includes the hand pump. Runs off either hpa or co2 so its very universal.

If your looking for something nicer in .22 definatly pickup one of these Sumatra 2500 Carbine. Air rifles - PyramydAir.com They have varying options between .177 and .25. Got to shoot one the other day and when i was looking over it it had 13 power settings for different fps,has a 6 shot rotating cylinder (to go with the lever action). It grouped very well at 50 yrds to.

Let me know if you need anything else and I'll give you the info you need.

have you heard of this company? GAMO USA - Adult precision airguns, ammunitions, accesories and optics

Air Guns - Air Rifles, BB Guns & Pellet Guns by Airsoft, Crosman, Daisy, Gamo, RWS & Other Makers these people say they are a good buy.

can you comment on accuracy as the speeds reach or past 1000fps. i thought faster is better, but now what i have read is that it get less accurate. i want a rifle that is accurate and that can target shoot with and maybe find some vermin, but mostly target shoot and look bad *** doing it. the scope seems cool

Caliber depends on what you're doing. .22 and .20 are nicer for shooting critters and can, and shooting distances, but if it's something you think you'll get into, just about all competitions are held in .177, so you might as well get used to that caliber if that's where you think you'll end up. .177 is higher velocity, .20 is a good compromise between the two major calibers, but is harder to find

Gamo is a well respected Spanish airgun maker, I used to shoot a Gamo (when I shot airguns). Past 1000fps you're approaching the sound barrier, and that can cause inaccuracies.
