Valve and spring combos?

I have a Super Bolt mini converted to a half block. Before the half blocking, I needed to run very heavy main and valve springs to get this up to 280 fps. I blamed much of that on the gas hog venturi bolt. After the conversion, the stock valve with the heavy springs made this thing kick like a mule and sound like a cannon. Tried changing the springs to Maddman green for both and put in an Eclipse valve. The reg was sweet spotted at 400 psi, but I couldn't get velocity past 145 until I changed the main to a blue spring. Now the velocity is good, but I'm getting venting. I'm afraid if I bump up the valve spring to blue, I'm going to have to increase the main again. By the way, with the blue main and green valve this thing totally sucked down air! Some of it was due to venting, but that wasn't all if it. I've got the stock valve and the Eclipse valve and don't really care to keep taking this thing apart. What would be a good suggestion for a probable "finishing" point? Here's the marker, by the way. Ano was done by 125 Customs.

Keep in mind that halfblock hammer assemblies are way way lighter than fullbody hammer assemblies, so a heavier main spring is usually a given.

The pump kit is your problem if you havent modified it. Poor design that starves the marker for air.

I build at least one halfblock pump a month, and I use green valve and main springs 99.9% of the time.

It's a WWA pump kit for a mini. What kind of mod do you recommend?

I think you have to drill or "bore" out an opening Jubes? To increase air flow?

I think you just need to bug a certain teammate that has THREE ccm mini kits.

Along the same vein, I'm building a halfblocked superbolt with pneu's, can anyone tell me what the best spring combo for it is? Should I just find out for myself? Thanks.

Take it apart and look how it gets air to the chamber/body. Pay close attention to the alignment of the holes and you will understand. # holes need to be drilled larger to make it work properly.

Try light valve/medium main, or medium/medium.

After reading your earlier post about modding the pump kit, I decided to look into what made it tick. I found only one small vertical hole in the banjo bolt to allow air into the valve chamber. If that hole didn't line up perfectly, air needed to flow over and around the bolt threads and I knew that couldn't be efficient. I compared the "semi" banjo bolt and it had 3 larger vertical holes as well as a grooved area if the holes didn't line up with the vertical asa. I modded the WWA banjo bolt by increasing the hole size to 5/32, also drilled it completely through instead of it only being on half the bolt, AND discovering that it needed to be closer to the block to actually line up with the asa, I placed a 3rd and 4th hole offset 1/16th closer. I also drilled out the asa to 5/32. That was the size of the horizontal hole in the WWA banjo bolt. While there, I added a hole near the front of the pump slide on the banjo bolt to accomodate a bar to tighten the unit. It was all reassembled and seems to work fine now. So it doesn't appear to be a spring issue after all. Thanks, hvacman!

Original small hole in vertical asa;

Redrilled to 5/32;

Original WWA banjo bolt with one small vertical hole halfway through;

Redrilled to 5/32 all the way through and threads milled to a groove;

1/16 offset hole all the way through added;

Now has 4 air holes and groove rather than 1 and threaded. Notice the offset to align to vertical asa;

Extra hole in front to assist in tightening;

In addition to doing the mods you've already done, there still may not be enough volume behind the main valve for stable low pressure ops [you've decreased flow restrictions not really added volume]. To remeady that I've both drilled out up into the guide rod to increase volume and/or used an expansion knuckle [PTP used to make/sell] between the reg and ASA. This is a particular problem with any Mini milled Autococker/Sniper.

Appreciate that and did consider it before reassembly, but it was so close to functioning well before, I think what's been modded will be enough. It was not a consistent problem with the valve not closing. It happened about every 2nd or 3rd shot. If not, this will be the next step.
