Going rate for a Nerve?
A buddy of mine is basically getting out of the sport and has a gloss black SP Nerve that's never seen the field. The only issue with it is that the trigger needs some adjustment (there are like 5 or 6 adjustment points - he tried tweaking it and can't seem to get it back quite right).
I believe it's got a full Freak set as well as an extra drop/ASA. He'd like to sell it for whatever the fair market value is or possibly trade it straight-across for a stock-class Phantom. Any idea what "fair market value" is for one of these? I don't mean "ridiculously deflated eBay price", but what he might be able to get for a BNIB Nerve?

I would have to say around $200. They were not highly sought after when they were new and even less nowadays since most of the top of the line markers run for less than $800 new.

Unfortunately the "ridiculously deflated eBay price" is pretty much what you'll get for it. Check out ebay and see what they are selling for. Add maybe 5% to 10% for the LNIB condition and hope for the best. They are not worth much in cash or trade value and he may consider parting it out to maximize the recovery of his investment. Freak kit, noid, board, body, bolt and reg are all worth more parted out than they are as a complete gun.
