Smart Parts Boss.....?

So recently I was looking in the pump gun gallery and came across an awesome looking gun. It's called the Smart Parts Boss. Can someone please explain to me wtf this is? Is it possible for me to get my hands on one? And the most confusing parts were the words, "smart parts"...

It was a Bore Drop Nelson. Not sure if it was unique in anyway except for the awesome barrel.

Oh, I like that pump setup.

I prefer undercocking pumps instead of the around-the-barrel setup, which is a shame because 1) I still love my Phantom and 2) everything new is way under the barrel, not the half-wrap deal like the old Sheridans.

I may have a project for the Phantom coming up, now...

I had one...

Huge bore, not much paint fits them. They have a very large powertube, which is a strange pressed alluminum deal, and is threaded different than most others. Loose or break it, your screwed. That huge PT, means it needs to run liquid. Mine came with a siphon tank, and needed it to get to 230fps.

That barrel tip is threaded for autococker barrels.

Pump action is smooth, and the thing feels sturdy in your hands, and has a decent amount of heft. Trigger is so so.

Interesting that the gripframe looks just like the Line-SI style.
Most pumps were using the Wintec, or Taso frames.

I wonder if Line-SI actually made the frame? That barrel also reminds me of the silly Barracuda. (came out around the same time).

The odd valving seems strange though. The Nelson valvetrain is 40 years old, and works pretty simple. SP goes through the trouble of duplicating a Line-SI gripframe, but can't figure out a Nelson powertube?

they were trying to solve the "blow-through" issue that the nelson valvetrain has: high pressure on small surface area= cracked paint. they were trying to get a air chamber on the bolt face that was larger so they could reduce the stress on the ball when firing. did it work? Who knows. there's not enough of them out there in use for people to say.

it's enough of an issue that CCI and Carter have all come with Diffuser plates on the Bolt for about 3-4 years now.
