Thumbs down Top Half of a Bottle Reg.

Would it be wise to locTite the threads?

My set screws werent set right or I just out muscled the force tension and it started to unscrew. I was hearing scratching while unscrewing my bottle from the asa. Then I noticed the top half of the reg was moving! Scared the crap outta me, so I dumped all the air. Got the tank seperated from the asa and unscrewed the "set screws" and seen a goudge marks along where the set screws were touching. I cleaned it up and reset everything as tight as I could. It's an '07 PMI reg.

I'd send it in anyway and see if they fix it for free. You may be surprised and they'll repair/replace it for free due to the potential liability if the reg fails and the parts seperate under pressure. If not, see how much the repair would be and decide if a new reg is a better option. I would not use that reg until it was inspected/repaired or you risk a catastrophic failure that could seriously injure or kill someone.

Actually, if it's a year old it probably isn't from the newest bad batch. I wouldn't suggest loctiting the actual main threads, but maybe put some on the setscrews, and be sure to torque them down.

Well, they're having me send it in for repairs. I just have to email them the Action Village Pick Sheet. Then I'll get shipping instructions.

yeah, an ounce of prevention is a pound of cure. i know i wouldn't want to have a tank unscrew while its against my chest/arm while playing, have someone behind me, or in a dead zone and have that rocket come off from the gun.

BTW, you did the smart thing in dumping the tank. you don't want to have a risk while monkeying with it.
