Minicocker #3021 restoration

Whats up guys
This bad little mini is going to be restored for a friend who aquired it on craigslist. it's not in to bad a shape, but needs some TLC and a little tweaking. my Objective could be called "enhanced original" condition I want to keep the origional feel, pneumatics and grip frame and make the sucker sing within those parameters. this is my first "deep restoration" I'm decent at getting them timed and know what everything does, but want to take it to the next level with you alls help.

first i need a good to do list. mine includes the following so far.
- sandblast and re- paint grip frame (suggestions on paint type anyone?)
- polish internals
- complete O-ring replacement (I recently picked up markerparts.com 10x autococker kit)
-trigger job (question - what would a trigger job have involved during the period this was born in?)
- total screw replacement
- drill hole in grip frame to access frame screw by trigger
- needs a new ram - this ones threaded rod is bent and one of the barbs is cracked.

recommendations for upgrades to the owner are as follows
-lapco drop forward
-stabilizer
-SS cocking rod and trigger rod
-vintage SP Barrel or J&J Brass

Anything Else? I'll post each mini project as a rip each piece apart and go through them - O-ring types, lubes settings , and most of all a sweat trigger job.

Damn, I recently saw a spread sheet with cocker serial numbers and dates. I'll have to try to remember where.

I've got serial number 3904 Minicocker - it had the original hoses on it from 1996 still, so I'd guess that's a good ballpark age - probably around 1994.

I would suggest getting rid of the reg, as the old Minicockers need high pressure to operate - if you really need a reg, a Stab will work wonders, but you'll need to crank up the pressure on it, so it's ultimately useless.

If it were myself, I'd make a sleeper out of it. Upgrade to Nelson-style internals, get the external lug adjustment hole drilled, put a high-flow bolt and valve in there, a LPC up front, a nice PPS front end, and keep the shroud on. I plan on doing that with mine at some point.

Not exactly right Jordan. The stab is there to keep the pressure constant.... if you want a constant 800 psi, and the tank can provide it, then you will get that from the stab. The minicocker could probably happily run lower than that. But I don't know how low.

Not exactly right either.

I know why the Stab is there - however, assuming that he's running CO2 (especially if he wants period-correctness) he's not always going to have a constant 800psi, so it's really an unnecessary expense, especially since the reg on there already is great for CO2.

My argument is that a Stab is unnecessary - the gun's already sprung and set up perfectly for unregged - and that he won't see much benefit from it.

That Minicocker will run at a lower pressure, but not very happily - those older Cockers, especially the Minicockers, have a small valve chamber not suited to LP. You'd need a large volumizer to run at a lower pressure properly, and a better valve and spring setup.

Almost forgot - I'd powdercoat the frame. Only thing that will stay properly.
