MOLLE gear?

Can anyone give me a basic rundown of how MOLLE gear attaches to vests?

I want to put together a SC vest and frankly the SpecOps stuff is really expensive. I was going to snag a MOLLE vest off cheaper than dirt and then build the tube holders and 12g holders by hand. Any help?

Basically it is a series of horizontal straps on the vest with vertical and horizontal straps on the accessory you are attaching. The straps interlace in a basket weave fashion. Something to watch is I have run across a few things where the strap don't line up properly with my Vest(SpecOps).

Ahh gotcha, anyone got tips on sewing and materials? I found BR's DIY tactical vest but the webbing he used is sold out and I have no idea about the different Mil Spec numbers and what they mean.

I had the same plan and 3 months later I have a Molle vest with no attachments made.

So what I'm saying is make 2 of everything and I'll buy the second set.

Don't want them stealing military gear that I can purchase otherwise. Thats tax payer money that I'm not going to exploit.

You try Tactical Tailor dot com or optactical dot com - i usually find something close to what I can use and modify it for my purpose. Shotgun loops/pouches are good for 12gr and tubes. Sometimes a vest may be too much - you could go with a chest harness and/or leg rigs. Hope this helps your search.
