| need help rounded head removal. I have one body bolt on a m98 that has a rounded head, and I can't remove it from the body. Any tips? I tried: jb welding a wrench in place -- didn't work Drilling out the backside where it is screwed into the nut -- worked slowly, and not very well Pounding the next larger allen wrench in -- not even close to working Swearing at the bolt -- didn't work, but I felt better Thanks for any tips, Scott

| Cut a notch in the button head to make it work with a flat blade screwdriver. You can use a dremel if you have one. Just don't go so deep that you cut the head in two pieces and seperate it from the bolt/screw shaft or you will then have another problem. E

| You can also try a torx bit. I have good luck with them. Grabit's also work pretty well. If it's the valve body screws though, I've found a lot of those are put in with locktite so you might need a little heat as well.

| MCB Member | On our rentals as work when the heads strip out I just drill out the heads... Even though its a steal bolt the material is pretty weak. I just drill off the head so I have enough off to take the body off and then vice grip the remaining bits of the bolt once I get the body halfs off.

| Before you try the other methods... did you soak it in some good penetrating lubricant? Also, if someone had locktited it in place, you may need to apply heat.
